Hi Reader, It's time to share my favorite picture books that were published this year. This book list (and my favorite chapter books of 2025 list that I'll share next week) is the only one I work on all year-round.
âHead to the blog post to discover these stories (and many more!)â ð An affirming read that celebrates the beautiful and difficult aspects of a girl growing up, perfect for reading snuggled up together at bedtime. ð A story about what it means for all human civilization to have its roots in Africa. With gorgeous watercolors and lyrical text, this ground-breaking history book is the opposite of dull. ðĻðūâðĶðū A heart-warming story with truly adorable illustrations about a preschool boy trying hard to be "a little big man" as he helps Dad. ðĨ A true story of two "peanut men" eased a girl's transition from leaving Cuba to make a home in the United States. âðūâðžA free verse biography of two underappreciated civil rights leaders who changed Detroit and inspired many beyond their city. (I was so excited to see someone finally wrote a children's book about this couple!) I'll be back soon with my favorite list of chapter books published in 2025.
